Introducing Our New Safe Environment Administrator

My name is Mary Jane Jurofcik and I am a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi parish for the past 40 years. I have been married to my husband, Rick for 39 years and we have five children and two grandchildren.

Father Bob has hired me to be the Safe Environment Administrator for St. Benedict the Abbot Church effective January 3, 2018. I have been the Safe Environment Coordinator at my parish for the last six years. I have been trained and certified by the Diocese of Pittsburgh to teach the Protecting God’s Children class. So, this class can now be done at St. Benedict instead of going to another site. This class is still offered online through the Diocese on their website.

Our volunteers at St. Benedict are the heart and soul of our parish. Without you, our priests and staff would be unable to fill all the roles that you do. Each volunteer plays a vital role in our parish community. It is imperative that each volunteer be properly certified and have all the necessary clearances that our Diocese requires in order to volunteer. Clearances renew every five years. In the coming months, I will be in touch with you if your clearances need renewed.

Keeping our children and vulnerable adults safe is a priority here at St. Benedict the Abbot Church. You can help us to do that by giving me the opportunity to help you get your proper certifications up to date. The clearances that our Diocese requires come directly from the State of Pennsylvania. So please know that these are state laws that we must abide by.

I look forward to working at St. Benedict and helping our parish become compliant with our State and Diocesan protocol of Protecting God’s Children and vulnerable adults. My office hours are Monday - 10:00 am - 4:00 pm, Wednesday 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm, and Friday 10:00 am - 4:00 pm. My email is and my extension is 305.

Mary Jane
