Pastoral Council Welcomes Comments
As a first step in updating our Pastoral Plan, we examined the Parish Mission Statement and tweaked it ever so slightly from the current Mission Statement which is on the front of the bulletin. According to One Body, One Mission the Mission Statement should include the following: It should reflect the Scriptures and Tradition of the Catholic Church; it should provide a strong sense of identity; it should make sense in light of the needs, gifts and history of the parish; it should be brief, understandable, inspiring and motivating. The tweaked version reads:
St. Benedict the Abbot Parish is a vibrant family of believers of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh. We strive to help all develop a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ through the Eucharist, sacraments, and Sacred Scripture. As a community, we live out our faith by serving others and we commit ourselves to welcoming all as Christ.
The Pastoral Council welcomes your comments on this Mission Statement as they prepare to use it to set some future directions for the parish. Feel free to use the online form or to return written comments marked “Pastoral Council Mission Statement Comments” to a box located in the Parish Office. The deadline for submitting your comments is December 31, 2013. All comments will be shared at the January Pastoral Council meeting.
